Spring is Here - it's Time for Spring Break!

Spring is in the air, and that means it's time for Spring Break!  My kids are off school this week, so I'll be spending alot of time with them having fun.

Since I'm fairly new to blogging I didn't think to plan out a Spring Break series of posts ahead of time, but I'll be sure to get one compiled next year.  As a substitution for a well-planned out FRUGAL Spring Break plan for all of you, I'll be posting some of the fun things we do this week on-the-cheap.

Here's my tentative plan:

Houston Zoo
Movies
Playing in the water
Library
Outlet Mall
Crafts
Spring Cleaning (YEAH!!)

I have been meaning to go to the zoo since we moved here from Denver four years ago, but we haven't been yet.  The Houston Zoo sent me a special on their family-plus membership (that's what we need since our family is so large!) for just $79.00.  This is a year long membership, and includes free entry for our whole family for a year, 2 guest passes (we'll be bringing 2 of our neighbors kids this week - free!), entry into the members-only Zoobilee party in April, Zoo Boo in October, and discounts on food and merchandise.  I'm very excited about this and although $79.00 isn't that cheap for a one-day excursion, I'm looking at being able to use these paid-for memberships in the summer!

The first showing of the day is only $5 at the movies, so we can go to the movies for $30.  We always bring our own drinks and snacks, so that'll save us a bit too.

Playing in the water and visiting the library is FREE - yeah!  We also just like to walk around the outlet mall, so that will be free too.  I have a coupon for a buy one get one free cookie at the mall, so I may spend a few bucks on cookies for us all.

I have tons of craft supplies to use, so I just need to figure out what things to do...let me know if you have any ideas!

All-in-all I have a plan to spend less than $150 this week for the zoo, movies, library, mall, crafts, gasoline, and 1 lunch eating out for 6 of us (my hubby has to work ALL week).  This should be fun!

I'll post pictures of our adventures with any more frugal tips I have for family fun this Spring break...stay tuned!
