Coupon Lingo

I wanted to write a post about all the coupon lingo floating around in the coupon world.  Here's a list of some of the most common terms:

$1.00/1 or $1.00/2 -  A coupon's value.  $1.00/1 means you'll save $1.00 when you buy 1 item, $1.00/2 means you'll save $1.00 when you buy 2 items and so forth...

Stack - This means you can use a store coupon along with a manufacturer coupon on the same item.  This in essence gives you a double discount on one item!

SS - Smart Source coupon insert found in most Sunday papers.

RP - Red Plum coupon insert found in most Sunday papers.

P&G - Proctor & Gamble coupon insert found once monthly in most Sunday papers.

GM - General Mills coupon insert found about once monthly in most Sunday papers.

WYB - "When you buy" - i.e. get $5 register rewards when you buy (WYB) 2

B1G1F - Buy one get one free.

Blinkie - These are coupons you get in those little red boxes attached to a product shelf.  They typically blink, hence the term "blinkie"!  These are almost always manufacturer coupons and can be used anywhere.

Peelie - These are coupons you can peel off a product package.  They are also manufacturers coupons.

Tearpads - These are coupons you'll find near a corresponding product, usually affixed to the shelf.  They are also manufacturers coupons.

RR - Walgreens register rewards system.

ECB - CVS extra care buck program.

OOP - Out of pocket - i.e. spend $1.00 out of pocket (OOP) get $5 register reward (RR)

Final price - My final price summary at the end of any item I tell you about is calculated AFTER I subtract sale prices, coupon values, and any rebates, RR, ECB's , or gift cards with purchase.

Printable coupon - This is a coupon that can be printed TWICE per computer by hitting your back button.  Most coupons can be printed twice, but occasionally you may find it can only be printed once.

I may have forgotten a few, but I'll update as I remember!
