Do you ever use gift cards? I sure do! I've started a new "thing" this year: I buy gift cards for upcoming events and trips. You may say "that seems a little weird". Well, I now have gift cards for most ALL of my major Christmas gift purchases! I started buying $25-50 gift cards several months ago for all the places I shop at frequently for Christmas gifts such as Toys R Us, Walmart, and Target. I only bought the cards when I had some extra cash, so now I have LOTS of dough to spend for the wonderul black Friday deals and early season specials! Gift cards don't expire, and they come in handy when it's time to make a big purchase.
I also buy restaurant gift cards when we go on trips - if I know where I'm going several months in advance, I simply look up my favorite restaurants, see if they're on the way, and PRESTO! I have my food already paid for!
We're hoping to visit family in Colorado this coming summer, so as soon as I'm done buying for Christmas I'll begin buying gift cards from Kroger (to buy the gas!) and ALL our favorite restaurants so the trip will be at least 50% paid for. YEAH!!
