Our camping trip was lovely, but now it's time to get back to work! Here's a peek at my garage:
These pieces above are from my daughters room and my oldest sons room. The big white armoire is one of my husbands very frst furniture projects almost 8 years ago. He built this for our two girls, but I'm about to re-do their room so it's time to paint over the stickers, pen marks, and boogers (yes, I found a booger stuck to the side when I was sanding - EWWW!). He wanted to throw it out since his woodworking skills are much improved, but I figured I'd give it a fresh coat of paint and see if it's salvageable...
The dresser is one I "stole" from my mom about 15 years ago! She and my sister painstakingly restored a Goodwill find, and I took it when I got married. :o) We recently began a room makeover for Austin (my oldest boy), and need to stain the dresser the same as his newly built headboard and shelves.
Still working on the garage sale coffee table above, and I also found a beautiful desk at another garage sale for only $30.00 (with the filing cabinet!), which will be painted a nice glossy black since it's MDF.
I need to put the legs on the second bench, and then I need to sand and stain my outdoor table and benches I built last week. These look great from far away, but you can definitely see the "amateur" up close! Oh well, I'm determined to get better and better! I asked Kevin if he wanted to go on a date to the hardware store last week and he about died! He said he'd been waiting to hear that for YEARS! Ha-ha!
Anyhow, I'm sure many of you have noticed I'm shying away from the sales ads lately. I have been suffering with an identity crisis (of sorts, don't get all freaked out!) and have been struggling with some personal health issues, so I have really needed to forget myself in some physical work. More on that later, but for now, please just enjoy my projects!
I've known how to sew since I was in junior high school, but haven't had much time in the last 16 years or so to get better at it. I'm planning some projects that will incorporate my newfound woodworking skills and my sewing and beading skills! These all look great in my mind, but we'll see how they turn out!
Stay tuned....I'll be posting some armoire pictures later tonight after dinner.
