Building a Simple Outdoor Table: Part 2

I finished building my simple outdoor table last night about 10 minutes after my hubby got home.  He walked in just as I was attaching the legs - he was actually impressed!  He gave me the best compliment a gal could ever want "Looks great - it looks way better than my first woodworking project!".  Ahhh...music to my ears!  Here's the table in all it's unfinished glory:

As I told my sister - just envision the Pottery Barn in it.  Once I sand and stain it the look should be very similar, so I'm pretty tickled with it.  As much as I'm chomping at the bit to get it stained, I figure I better build the matching benches and stain them all at once.

It looks small in the photo, but with two long benches and two chairs it will seat 8.  Plus I'll be cutting out a hole in the middle of the table to add an umbrella for some shade.

Gotta head out to my workshop now (it's no longer yours, Kevin!), so I'll post the benches later!

  2. Was it hard to hold and screw the boards together?

I have a project I want to start, but I am waiting for an extra set of hands to help me when I need to put the screws in.

Way to go - I've seen your finished product and it really looks beautiful!
