Lately I've been inspired to start making my home look better. I've been feverishly painting, gardening, cleaning, organizing, and just all around straightening (can you say "Spring Fever"?).
I've found some absolutely AMAZING blogs about home decorating I wanted to share with you:
Or if you so choose to MAKE your own furniture:
Now, I am not even close to being in the same league as these marvelous ladies (I wish!), but I'm trying to at least give it a shot. I started a refinishing project this weekend with a table I found at a garage sale for just $7. Here it is before:
A photographer, I am not. Sorry!
The top has seen better days.
With the top removed.
The cute drawers.
I spent most of yesterday afternoon taking a gardening break. I sanded down the top, underside, and bottom of this table and filled in the screw holes with filler. I am trying something new that my hubby thinks won't work, but we'll see. Instead of removing the center piece and adding a new board, I'm just going to flip it over, use the "lip" to create a tile mosaic, and then afix the table top back on, but upside down from how it was attached orginally. This is the underside of the top piece:
Ugggglllyyy, huh?
It actually turned out very nice after a thorough sanding:
Sanded to a smooth finish.
My next step is to finish sanding all the "tough" parts:
Note the grooves - ugh!!
Then I'll do the mosaic in the center, stain the whole thing ebony, add crystal knobs to the drawers, and DONE!
We'll see what it looks like then...stay tuned!
For sure keep us updated!
